The most recent initiative of the Government Performance Project (GPP), Grading the States 2008, provides insights into the way the states have weathered the recent fiscal crisis and the promising innovations they have crafted to cope with an uncertain future. This is the only national assessment of its kind. It examines how states manage their Money, People, Infrastructure, and Information with the goal of providing non-partisan, objective information to help state officials improve management and achieve their policy goals.
